Our hot water taps work in partnership with a compact boiler tank that is typically fitted below the sink. The boiler unit draws in water from the mains water supply, heating it to your desired temperature and then dispensing it through the spout when the boiling water function is activated on the handle. The tank will then refill with water and bring it back up to temperature until the next time it's needed.
The standard tank included with each instant boiling water tap holds 2.4 litres of hot water, which is enough to fill roughly 6-7 cups at a time. For larger families, we offer an increased-capacity, 4-litre tank for an additional £99. The boiler is designed to be energy-efficient and is effectively insulated to minimise heat loss. The average daily cost to run an instant hot water tap is 10-15p, which can be less than a household that regularly uses the kettle as this costs a few pence each time.
We provide both the 2.4-litre boiler tank and the filter to accompany each copper boiling water tap, which is simple to install either by yourself or with the assistance of a plumber. For more information about installation, head to our installation guide.
If you're considering installing a copper hot water tap in your kitchen, you may be wondering what the difference is between a 3-in-1 and a 4-in-1 model.
Put simply: while both types of taps dispense warm, cold and boiling water, 4-in-1 taps dispense filtered cold water.
A 3-in-1 instant hot water tap is therefore great if you're simply looking for a mixer tap with an instant boiling water function. However, if you want the added benefits of pure, filtered, cold water, then a 4-in-1 tap is a better option. If you're looking for maximum functionality, our 4-in-1 Platinum tap comes with a pull-out spout, giving you extra flexibility at the kitchen sink.
When it comes to protecting your children, all of our products, including our copper boiling water taps, are rigorously tested to ensure they meet our safety standards. And, unlike kettles and most other kitchen appliances, our taps have a child safety button that blocks boiling water when the tap is not in use, minimising the risk of accidental scalding. Compared to kettles, which are easily dropped or knocked, many parents find an instant boiling water tap to be a safer option.
Our hot water taps heat to 98ºC, which means the boiling hot water won't spit when drawn from the tap. It also prevents unnecessary water waste from the excessive steam that 100ºC can produce.
